Beyond being 30 pounds overweight, I was also dealing with sleep apnea and at 260 pounds I was having trouble demonstrating moves like squats and pullups to my clients. Not a good look for a trainer!
As many of you know, I'm a former fatso from Milwaukee, WI. I don't have great genetics and I definitely don't just wake up like this. In the past I've shared pics of me in my late teens when I was my heaviest. But I also got sloppy AF as a "man" when I was trying to build my personal training business in my mid 20's.
At this time I was waking up at 4:30 am and training 8-10 clients/day to survive. I'm extremely introverted and suffer from social anxiety so this schedule of high-frequency human interaction was destroying me. I was stressed out of mind, maybe sleeping 4-6 hours a night if was lucky, and had no energy to do grueling 1-2 hour workouts.
I needed to find a way to get out of the grind of 1-on-1 personal training and find a more time-efficient training solution for myself to get back in shape and look the part.
So I got rid of all of my 1-on-1 clients and started offering corporate bootcamps and community bootcamps before and after work featuring 30-minute express workouts for busy professionals (90% of my campers were women, believe it or not).
It opened up time for me to take better care of myself. And I got back in shape doing the same fast, fun, and focused workouts my bootcampers were doing.
