If we had to pick one word to associate with Mitsubishi, it would be “Energy.” The company is well-attuned to current trends, and knows that you want to drive a car that is fun. Looking ahead with that knowledge in mind, the form and function of the Concept AR make total sense. The theoretical crossover design shown at this year’s Tokyo Auto Show is bold, its fluorescent green paintjob accented by a black trim that blends windshield and windows. This car is so cool it looks like it’s wearing sunglasses. The Concept AR is tasked as a “mild-hybrid,” and can carry up to six people. One of the standout ideas for this car, as featured in a video that accompanied its debut, is that the second row of seats can be reoriented to face the third. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a long road trip, or to hang out and relax with the doors open once you’ve reached your destination. The U-shaped sunroof and large windows will also allow for a panoramic view to enjoy. Those of you who keep track of current progressions in technology know that AR stands for Augmented Reality, so it’s probably no coincidence that a car named the AR has a small touchscreen incorporated into its steering wheel. The video shows off several proposed uses for this screen, including navigation, heating and ventilation control, music and audio tuning, maintenance messages, and what appears to be Bluetooth phone calling. This means no more blindly fumbling with buttons or a screen on your center console. You’ll be able to reach everything you need without taking your hands off the steering wheel. There are two other colors featured in the video, a vibrant red and a cool blue. It could be that Mitsubishi intends the AR to be just as energetic and versatile as the Mirage, ensuring that you can find a car that matches you.
