To be launched this festive season, the Baleno RS will be pitted against the Fiat Punto Abarth and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. The car was showcased at the 2017 Auto Expo earlier this year and will be the first performance packed offering from the house of Maruti Suzuki.Earlier, the company was trying hard to meet the demand of the Baleno and the Viatara Brezza due to which it was reportedly said that the launch for the Baleno RS has been delayed, but Maruti Suzuki with its considerable progress has increased the production 2017 In terms of design, the Baleno RS is similar to that of the standard model, but being a sporty version it could be tweaked with minor changes like redesigned bumpers and the addition of side skirts. Inside the cabin, you will find a flat bottom steering wheel along with an add on of the alluminium pedals. The main highlight of the Baleno RS is its powertrain, which is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder Boosterjet petrol motor. The unit cranks out an impressive power output of 110hp over 30 percent more than along with 170Nm of peak torque. The engine will come connected to a five-speed manual gearbox and there is a possibility of a CVT unit as well, offered on the existing model of the Baleno. The RS version will get a lighter engine that ensures reduction in overall weight and also aiding the fuel-efficiency of the car.Maruti will sell the Baleno Rs alongside the regular model through its premium Nexa channel and is expected to get a starting price tag of Rs 8 lakh ex showroom
