NEW 2017 Renault Kwid 1.0L AMT (1000 cc AMT) has been teased in India for the first time and could come available in the RXT top-end trims; launch expected in November Renault Kwid was all set to continue its own domination in the urban market by introducing a new engine to the lineup lately with the launch of a 1,000 cc unit. The 1.0SCe featuring alongside the existing 800 cc petrol motor delivers best-in-class mileage and we were impressed by its performance during our test drive. Currently connected with a five-speed MT, Renault is stepping up the game further as an AMT will be slotted in soon to elevate the sales as well as expand the product lineup. Showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo at Greater Noida in early February, the Kwid AMT has been teased for the first time through Renault’s social media platforms just now. Expected to be made available in the top-spec trims and in both 800cc and 1,000cc disguises, we would predict a price hike of Rs.30,000-40,000 over the standard model. The 1.0L SCe AMT will play a key role in Renault’s aim of reaching 5 percent market share as the 0.8L sibling has already grabbed customer orders in aplenty since its launch. The teaser image revealed a rotary drive selector with R, N and D functions – suggesting that the AMT Kwid won’t be offered with a manual drive as in the Alto K10 AGS. Renault Kwid 1.0L AMT (1000 cc) Price: The car was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and garnered attention for the brand. It could be priced around Rs. 4 lakh for the 0.8 SCe AMT and around Rs. 4.5 lakh for the 1.0SCe AMT as the launch is expected in November. Renault Kwid 1.0L was recently launched at the price range between 3.82 Lakh to 3.95 Lakh for the RXT and RXT (O) variants respectively (only Rs. 22,000 more than the 0.8L version). Car can be booked on Paytm as well. Similar to its 0.8-litre sibling, it comes with 98% localisation of parts and thus claimed to enable low cost of ownership. Renault Kwid 1.0L AMT (1000 cc) Engine, Specification & Mileage : A 68 PS and 91 Nm producing 1.0-litre SCe all aluminum DOHC three-cylinder engine has layout ensuring low pressure drop with super-efficient valve lift for good amount of low, mid and high range torque. It is being mated to a five-speed transmission sending power to the front wheels and helping the car to achieve a claimed mileage of 23.01 kmpl. The 999cc is the new champion in the claimed economy numbers and the AMT wearing EASY-R badge as the Duster AMT should do the same as it will have lower kerb weight – around 23-24 km/l is expected when it arrives at the market. The 0.8SCe AMT will continue to produce 54 PS and 72 Nm torque with more or less the same mileage as the manual counterpart.
